![]() WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 29: Zion Williamson #1 of the Duke Blue Devils blocks the shot of Kerry. It's hard to imagine he'll duplicate that in the NBA, but his defensive instincts have to be recognized at least a little. He was great at sneaking up on a ball-handler's blind side and hopping into passing lanes. That and the obvious gap in experience is the reason for the disparity in standing and driving layup.įans usually talk about Williamson's blocks when they discuss his defense, but he averaged 2.1 steals per game. Williamson is still primarily a left-handed finisher. James is still one of the NBA's best finishers with either hand. Williamson gets to the basket, and when he does, it's usually a bucket. In his lone season at Duke, Williamson converted 79 percent of the shots he took at the rim and only 11.7 percent of the shots he took from two-point range were jumpers. I think we can all tell strength isn't an issue.Įven when Williamson isn't dunking, he's a heck of a finisher at the rim. He's 275 pounds and he's chiseled out of granite. WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 31: Zion Williamson #1 of the Duke Blue Devils moves the ball as head coach. Williamson won't be the ball handler James is, but he's solid enough in this area to get above-average ratings. 2K doesn't really have an agility rating per se (lateral quickness is more of a defensive attribute in the game), so the best way to represent this talent is to address it in the ball control and speed with the ball categories. He splits double teams with hop steps and utilizes high-skill spin moves. Williamson isn't just a downhill, steamroller, he's also got the feet of a shifty running back. As it compares to James, I placed Williamson on par with The King in every speed related category. Straightline speed and burst are more of Williamson's best attributes. Some might call for him to have 99s across the board in these categories, but with all due respect, he needs to jam on some NBA players before we go that far. That explains his 85 standing dunk, 99 driving dunk, and 75 contact dunk. ![]() Rarely, if ever, have we seen a player of any size–let alone a hulking figure like Williamson–with such incredible leaping ability.
